The Angel’s Account:

The Invitation

I am one who listens first: listens for the heartbeat of heaven and the stirrings in human souls. My joy and delight? Helping people hear what they hadn’t realised was being spoken: not just from others, but from God. Sometimes it’s a whisper, sometimes a cry, sometimes a heartfelt silence that stirs the invitation.

I remember the girl, Mary. So young, yet already carrying a depth in her spirit that most never reach. When I spoke, she was afraid at first: of course she was. I had to tell her not to be. But what I brought wasn’t a command. It was an invitation. Not to do, but to make space. To allow something holy to grow in her. And not just within her body, but within her whole life. The Son of the Most High would take shape inside her, slowly, quietly, vulnerably. And her yes… oh, her yes resounded through all the realms.

And then the shepherds: rough hands, wide eyes, hearts and lives wrapped in watchfulness and weather. That night, the sky burst open. I wasn’t alone that time. We were a multitude of messengers. Not giving instructions, but offering a sign. You will find him, we said. And to find him, they had to leave the familiar; the protective night fire and the flock they were guarding . Just for a while. But it was enough to rearrange the shape of their days forever.

Each time, the message I deliver is different. But each time, the call is the same: Make room, create a space in your life . In your plans. In your body. In your heart. God is drawing close, and nothing will stay the same if you hear and respond.

I don’t force. I announce. I shine a little light and wait. And when someone hears, really hears, and says yes – then all of heaven holds its breath, and sings.

The Angel’s Story:

A Special Invitation, for little ones

Hello there! I’m an angel. One of the ones who brings messages from God. I don’t shout, and I don’t scare (well… I try not to!).
Mostly, I just help people listen – to each other, and to God.

Would you like to hear a story? It’s about some very special invitations.

One day, I visited a young girl named Mary. She was kind and gentle and liked to listen. I told her, “God has chosen you for something amazing. You are going to carry a very special baby – God’s own Son!” Mary was a bit nervous (who wouldn’t be?), but she said yes. She made space in her body and in her heart for Jesus to grow.

Later, I got to appear in the sky – oh, that was fun! I was with loads of other angels, and we sang songs to some shepherds looking after sheep in the hills. We told them, “Go! There’s a baby born tonight, and he’s the hope and light of the world!”

The shepherds looked at each other and said, “Let’s go!” They left their sheep for a little while to find Jesus.

Mary said yes. The shepherds said yes. Each of them made room in their lives for God. And everything changed. That’s my favourite part of being an angel: watching people hear God’s message and say yes to something new in their life.

What about you? Can you make a little space today to listen?
